Job Objective:Assistant Database Administrator is responsible for all aspect of database including designing, installation, patching, monitoring, data security, integrity, consistency and maintenance. Proactively ensure smooth DB operations along with efficient troubleshooting & problem solving and communication skills. Ensure timely support for production, disaster recovery and development sites.
Database Utilities Maintenance & Upgrades
Good Concepts of High Availability & Disaster Recovery (Oracle & MSSQL).
Manage all upgrades and patching of the database & software.
Configure and manage Native Replication of Oracle (Data Guard) & MS SQL (Mirroring/Log Shipping)
Administration of Oracle ASM, Oracle RAC, Oracle Applications and MSSQL Instances/Databases.
Manage database's storage structures (ASM & File System).
Manage users and security.
Manage schema objects, such as tables, lobs, partitions, indexes, and views etc.
Make database backups and performing recovery when necessary.
Proactively monitor the database's health and taking preventive or corrective action (approved only) as required.
Monitor and tune performance issues.
Create and maintain database operations handbook for frequently/routinely performed tasks
Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities.
Develop environment provision (Backup restoration & Point in time recovery).
Write database procedures, functions and triggers and well-tuned queries.
Monitor Database tools usage to review and ensure the system is operation at optimal levels.
Database Growth Monitoring to proactive manage underlying storage and recommend solutions as required.
Database Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide second level support for day-to-day operations to internal departments for Production, Disaster Recovery and Development sites.
Proactive monitor all databases alerts.
Install Grid Infrastructure, RAC, single instance, Oracle Applications R12 & MSSQL software.
Facilitate issue related to Oracle apps database administration.
Coordinate with teams in the implementation and provisioning of grid computing and RAC for development, UAT and testing.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other attributes:
Minimum qualification Bachelors in Information Technology or in Computer Science with emphasis on database systems from an HEC recognized / overseas university.
Excellent knowledge & understanding of Oracle Core DBA with multi-node RAC.
Query optimization and performance tuning.
Must have experience in installation, configuration, upgrading, administrating, monitoring, troubleshooting, cloning, patching, backup and restore of Oracle EBS.
Proficient in creation of database objects such as tables, lobs, partitions, index (Function Based, Domain Index and Virtual Column), etc.
Adept with T-SQL or PL/SQL (stored procedures, functions, triggers, cursors).
Strong database backup & recovery concepts.
Good working knowledge and hands-on experience of SQL, Query tuning and optimization.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Exhibits and upholds KMBL’s values and social performance objectives.
Must possess knowledge/concept of:
Oracle Grid Infrastructure & RAC.
Oracle Data Guard.
Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
XML Database Concept.
Oracle Applications R12 Concept.
MSSQL Server Concept.
Duration and nature of previous experience:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on database administration experience. Prior work experience in a banking environment would be an added advantage.
